Johnson met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev.

After the meeting, Johnson and Zelenskiy made a statement to reporters.

Johnson described the Ukrainian people as “heroes” in his speech.

Noting that Russia thought that pre-war Kiev would fall in a few hours, Johnson said, “How wrong they were. I think the Ukrainians showed the courage of a lion, and Vladimir that lion’s roar was you. Thank you for what you did, your leadership was extraordinary. ” said.

“Withdrawal is tactical”

Expressing that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions in places like Bucha and Irpin have permanently tarnished his reputation, Johnson said, “It is clear that he has suffered a defeat. , but his withdrawal is tactical and will now intensify the pressure in the Donbas and the east.” he said.

Johnson, expressing that Ukraine should be supported for this reason, said:

“We, your friends, continue to offer our best support. Together with our partners, we will increase the economic pressure and impose sanctions on Russia at every turn. “We will continue to intensify the week. We will not only freeze assets in banks and impose sanctions on oligarchs, but also move away from the use of Russian hydrocarbons.”

Emphasizing that they will give both military and economic support to Ukraine, the British Prime Minister said, “Meanwhile, there is a lot to be done to ensure that Ukraine succeeds, Ukraine wins and Putin fails.” said.

Johnson’s visit came after the UK announced that it would send Ukraine a total of £100m of Starstreak anti-aircraft missiles and 800 anti-tank missiles, as well as non-lethal equipment such as helmets, armor and night vision vehicles.

While no statement was made regarding the visit before, it emerged when Johnson shared a photo of the meeting on the Twitter account of the London Embassy of Ukraine, where he was in Kiev.
